MTS - Modular Tooling System

The EROWA MTS (Modular Tooling System) is the universal clamping solution for workpieces of any size and any machining type - from manually set up single parts to fully automated series production.

Its modular design, construction and standardization allow it to be used on milling, grinding, turning, eroding and measuring stations, guaranteeing repeatability of < 0.003 mm. With system variants from MTS 81 to MTS 4.0, the range covers clamping powers of up to 80,000 N.

Thanks to pneumatic systems, a robust design and optional process sensors, EROWA MTS forms the solid basis for precise and networked production in accordance with Industry 4.0 standards.

Possible applications of the MTS zero point clamping system:

  • To mill and grind: Solid clamping of large components with high machining forces and tight tolerances.
  • Eroding: Precise zero point position, can be combined with the ITS system for EDM tooling.
  • Turning: Safety workpiece clamping on turning/milling centers with high torques.
  • Measuring: Identical reference points for reproducible test and series measurements.
  • Automated production: Can be seamlessly integrated into EROWA Robot Compact, EROWA Robot Dynamic, EROWA LoadMaster or EROWA JMS 4.0.

Simplest control

Only two pneumatic lines are required to control the MTS 4.0 base plate: opening and reclamping (optional: cleaning air for automation).

Power is supplied autonomously via the integrated battery.

Wireless digital status monitoring

The data signals from the MTS 4.0 chucks are transmitted wirelessly to a receiver integrated into the machine.

Electronic monitoring opens up a whole new range of evaluation options: proactive maintenance, precise process analysis, and advanced monitoring capabilities.

For maximum process reliability

Integrated into the machine control system, MTS 4.0 provides comprehensive information and status displays on the condition of the MTS 4.0 chuck in real time.

MTS 4.0 meets the increased safety standard according to ISO 13849 PLd- Cat 3.

Safety first

UPC 2.0 chucks feature a mounting hole pattern that allows them to be mounted on almost any machine table without additional adaptation.

Everything under control

Before machining begins, the presence of the clamping pins and the chuck locking are checked via the integrated air circuit.

If the combined check is successful, machining is approved. This means that all chucks are correctly clamped and all clamping pins are present.

Patented technology

The technical implementation of MTS 3.0 is unique, patented, and certified. The clamping system meets the increased safety standard requirements of ISO standard 13849 PLd Cat 3.

Automation

The MTS system is ideally suited for automatic pallet changing. When changing workpieces, the contact surfaces of the chucks and the clamping pins are cleaned automatically. The MTS pallets are positioned cleanly and precisely.

Modular and continuous clamping

MTS base plates are the flexible and precise interface for single or multiple palletizing.

MTS base plates are available in various designs. Depending on the model, with 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8 MTS clamping jaws. We would also be happy to advise you on custom-made products.

Minimize setup times

Workpieces and clamping devices are palletized. This means they can be transferred to the machine without further alignment if necessary.
There, they are held precisely and stably in position thanks to the MTS palletizing system. Further jobs are prepared outside the machine.
