Muottituote Group Oy is a family-owned company founded in 1973. Today, the group employs more than 100 people across three locations: Rauma, Joensuu and Korpilahti. As one of Finland’s leading mould manufacturers, Muottituote combines toolmaking, plastic injection moulding and die casting under one roof. The result: lean processes, fast response times and uncompromising quality.

“We operate on a single-shift basis, but our machines run around the clock. That only works when we can rely on our automation one hundred percent,” emphasizes Tero Vanninen, CEO of Muottituote. This trust was the decisive factor behind the implementation of a new automated HSC cell – with EROWA as the automation partner.

The new cell consists of three HSC machines connected by a linear EROWA Robot Dynamic 150. Both UPC and ITS pallets in various sizes are used throughout the system. For Muottituote, this technology is nothing new – EROWA systems have been in operation for more than 25 years. The next logical step was a highly integrated manufacturing cell with multiple machines for unattended production. Automation is not a vision here – it is reality.

Customer requirements – especially in the medical technology and packaging industries – demand the highest level of precision. Repeatability and error-free clamping are just as crucial as uninterrupted and reliable processes. “Every disruption, every error, every uncertainty puts our delivery reliability at risk,” explains Tero Vanninen.

That is why EROWA was once again the preferred choice – not only because of system compatibility, but above all because of its many years of experience as a reliable partner: from consulting and implementation to ongoing support. Even during the supply chain challenges of the COVID period, cooperation remained constructive and the objectives were achieved – many unattended production hours, high efficiency and an intuitive user interface.

The implementation of the new cell was also a success internally. The user interfaces are operator-friendly and the processes are well thought out. “Our employees appreciate the clarity of the system – and the fact that they can fully utilize the potential of the machines,” says Tero Vanninen. The effort required to adapt working procedures was minimal, as the team already had extensive experience with EROWA palletization systems.
