The world-famous company was founded by Karl Elsener as a cutlery forging business in Ibach-Schwyz in 1884. As early as 1891, Elsener supplied the Swiss Army with the first soldiers' knives.
Proven collaboration
”Our collaboration began in 1987 with the purchase of a Charmilles Roboform 400 EDM sinking machine,” says Bruno Spiess. “The Charmilles representative recommended a workpiece and electrode clamping system from EROWA. I must confess that I had never heard of this company before. But we followed the advice and bought an EROWA PreSet 2D measuring station to set up and preset the electrodes. Both have proven themselves extremely well and are still in use today!” In the 1990s, further products and components from EROWA were added, such as a Robot X in 1992, which operates a Charmilles Roboform 2000. Later on, further robots for automatic operation of additional eroding machines.
Measurable advantages
Asked about the advantages of EROWA products, Bruno Spiess and Marcel Ehrler become more specific. “The high repeatability of the workpiece carriers, such as pallets or electrode holders, is one of the big advantages of EROWA clamping systems. And of course the precision and uncompromising consistency of the system in itself; here the quality is objectively measurable.” All this results in a clear increase of output.
Bruno Spiess would recommend working with EROWA at any time: “For long-term success, just buying the cheapest products will not do. We need products from a company with a quality philosophy and reliability, like EROWA can demonstrate.”
