Two machines all at once
Avant-garde in production
Prosys Production in France is one of the world‘s leading manufacturers of electric coiling machines - an area in which there are only a handful of successful suppliers worldwide. The big customers come from the automotive industry. Every plant that is sold has been adapted to their manufacturing specifi cations. This means that the concepts remain the same, but the details have to be redefi ned again and again. Keeping a grip on this fl exible way of machine building with regard to lead times and production costs has always been the target of Prosys Production‘s manufacturing team.
Building on recipes for success
Prosys Production has been using EROWA tooling systems successfully for a long time. Manned shifts are used to prepare jobs. During the unsupervised night shift and at weekends, the machines carry out the jobs in complete autonomy. Loading robots change workpieces without an operator‘s presence. EROWA JMS JobManagement System plays a crucial role in the organization of orders.
Going new ways
Existing resources must always be used with great care. The same applies to the surface occupied by the production plant. On refl ection, to have the existing milling machine and a new one served by one single loading facility appeared to promise the best results. An analysis of machining times revealed that the robot would have suffi cient time to load/unload both machines. These facts, combined with a very successful test series, resulted in the order being placed immediately.
Preparation time
An avant-garde plant such as this one cannot simply be set up on the shop floor for the operators to get on with it. Rather, the members of the production team were integrated in the project team at a very early stage of technical investigations. Their everyday experience of workpieces to be manufactured, of programs and existing tooling systems, became part of the considerations and planning processes.
